U.S. retailer Saks is rolling out the red carpet for a Hollywood partnership.
Los Angeles-based fashion house Rodarte is crafting a collaborative capsule inspired by the upcoming Warner Bros. film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice; the release is available exclusively at Saks. Rodarte's founders, designers and sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, created the clothing pieces, which include dresses, t-shirts and crewnecks.
“The original Beetlejuice is one of our favorite films and we knew we would work the stripe pattern into a romantic silhouette,” said Kate and Laura Mulleavy, in a joint statement.
“We called upon details intrinsic to the Rodarte world, and at home within the film's aesthetic,” they said. “We love the mixture of Gothic romance and tailored, avant-garde styles.
“We started with a color palette and played with puff sleeves, bows, lace and tie-dye techniques.”
Undead dress
Rodarte crafted six bespoke pieces inspired by the film.
The capsule is comprised of a velvet maxi dress, sequined halter gown, striped slips and tie-dyed casual wear. Each item aims to capture Beetlejuice Beetlejuice director Tim Burton’s iconic avant-garde, macabre aesthetic.
Released this week, the collection is available exclusively at Saks. The pieces can also be purchased on the retailer’s e-commerce portal and on Rodarte’s website.
Rodarte is far from the only luxury brand launching collections inspired by the film, as Russian jeweler Fabergé unveiled a set of rings created in collaboration with Mr. Burton and the film’s costume designer Colleen Atwood.
Releasing in theaters on Sept. 6, 2024, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice marks the high-end space’s latest crossover with Hollywood following a summer of activations (see story).
