Italian fashion house Gucci is expanding its retail footprint in Canada.

This month, the maison made its debut in Montreal at the Royalmount shopping center with a brand-new flagship store. Inside the boutique, guests will find men’s and women’s handbags, various accessories, footwear, the brand’s latest ready-to-wear collections, a selection of Gucci Beauty products and pieces from the Gucci Valigeria travel line.

Rising market
With the flagship, Gucci joins a variety of other luxury names debuting large-scale retail spaces within Royalmount, including Louis Vuitton, Rolex, Moncler, Sephora, Tiffany & Co., Balenciaga and Jimmy Choo, among many others.

Guests are welcomed into Gucci’s single-level, 8,700-square-foot flagship by a brushed stainless-steel and marble facade, with the interiors taking a similarly refined aesthetic utilizing the same materials. Vibrantly colored carpet and high-end Italian furniture dot the upscale sales floor, combining household comfort with creative director Sabato De Sarno’s design ethos of archival looks and antique inspirations.

Displays modeled after walk-in closets house Gucci’s signature product lines, such as Horsebit 1955 and Jackie 1961.

The flagship takes after Royalmount’s sustainable goals (see story) while following the maison’s own eco-friendly initiatives, as the new boutique was built following LEED guidelines, which promote operational energy efficiency.

Gucci is expanding its reach in Canada’s luxury market at the right time, as high-end travel to the country is up by triple-digit percentages this year, with the increased activity poised to continue in the future, according to recent findings (see story).
