British fashion house Stella McCartney is strengthening its C-Suite.

Effective Dec. 1, the company has announced that London-based professional Amandine Ohayon will step into the role of CEO, helping to scale and develop the LVMH-backed operation. The corporate leader, who arrives with two decades of experience spearheading key business initiatives at top luxury brands, is replacing four-year chief executive officer Gabriele Maggio.

“I am delighted to welcome Amandine as CEO of my Maison” said Stella McCartney, founder of Stella McCartney, in a statement.

“Her leadership and wealth of experience across businesses and geographies will be strong assets to build a brilliant future for the company,” Ms. McCartney said. “Her passion for great fashion and ethical values makes her a great partner in our quest to champion a sustainable way to business success.”

Ms. Ohayon will remain in London for her appointment, reporting directly to the board at Stella McCartney.

Having navigated the industry on behalf of prestige players for more than 25 years, Ms. Ohayon brings a unique level of insider expertise to the table, amassing most of her credentials working within L’Oréal’s high-end division. Holding numerous roles at the conglomerate, the newly-named executive departed after holding the title of L’Oréal Luxe managing director, overseeing two markets: the U.K. and Ireland.

Ms. Ohayon's time in luxury beauty could prove particularly helpful to the brand, as Stella McCartney has its own skincare line. The ESSEC business school graduate joins the Stella McCartney team from a more recent stint at Pronovias, a luxury bridalwear label out of Spain, where Ms. Ohayon served as CEO for over five years, supervising its sale to American private investment firm Bain Capital in a deal in initiated last December.

Besides managing to keep circularity close at Pronovias through a number of eco-friendly engagements, previous successes progressing L’Oréal portfolio members such as Armani Beauty and Saint Laurent in key markets presumably add to the appointee’s appeal, considering the growth potential of British fashion designer Stella McCartney’s direct-to-consumer skincare line, launched in August of 2022 (see story).

“I am honored to lead such an incredible brand that epitomizes sustainable luxury and ethical fashion,” said Ms. Ohayon, in a statement.

“Together with Stella, we will continue to redefine the industry, championing innovation, whilst accelerating the company’s growth with a conscious approach that resonates with our values.”
